  • Information on non-Eastman products has been obtained from various published documents. Verification of all technical information and physical properties on non-Eastman products is the responsibility of the information user.

  • Flash Points shown on the "Solvents Report" are determined by Tag Closed Cup Method (TCC) with the exception of several solvents as listed below.

    • Setaflash Method: EASTMAN PM Acetate, EASTMAN EEP Solvent, EASTMAN C-11 Ketone Solvent, EASTMAN EEH Solvent, EASTMAN n-Butyl Propionate, and EASTMAN Methyl Acetate.
    • Cleveland Open Cup (COC): EASTMAN DE Acetate, EASTMAN DB Solvent, EASTMAN DB Acetate, and TEXANOL Ester Alcohol.
    • Tag Open Cup (TOC): n-Methyl-2-Pyrrolidone

  • Eastman markets a line of high purity/low-trace metal content solvents under the trademark EASTAPURE.

  • EASTMAN DIBK is a mixture. Critical temperature, critical volume, heat of vaporization, standard net heat of combustion, and liquid capacity are characteristic of the pure compound. Other properties listed are measured on the commercial product. See MSDS for approximate composition of DIBK.

  • Eastman non-HAPs - Title III of the Clean Air Act (CAA) Amendment of 1990 lists chemicals or chemical categories as Hazardous Air Pollutants. For selection purpose, the "Eastman non-HAPs" selector button in the "Solvents" section identifies only Eastman products that are listed on the CAA. No reference is made to the HAPs classification of any non-Eastman product and inclusion or exclusion on the HAPs list is subject to change without notice.   • Azeotropes stated in "Wt % Water" represents weight percent water in the vapor phase.

  • Chemical Grade Eastman supplies many solvents in various grades to meet specific market needs, i.e., urethane grade (moisture content less than 0.05%), electronic grade (low levels of metals), etc. Contact your EASTMAN representative for specific information on different products available.

  • Dilution Ratio is determined with nitrocellulose.

  • Electrical Resistance was measured by Ransburg paint resistance meter, part no. 7924, model no. 234. Values shown are typical for commercial production. Certain solvents vary in resistivity with age.

  • Flash Point

  • Hansen Solubility Parameters are estimated by Dr. Charles Hansen shown as [cal/cm3].5.

  • LVP-VOC Low Vapor Pressure (LVP) Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) according to the standard set by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). CARB requires a vapor pressure of less than 0.1 torr at 20 °C for a compound to be designated as an LVP-VOC.

  • Maximum Incremental Reactivity (MIR) Values were taken from William P. L. Carter's report titled "The SAPRC-99 Chemical Mechanism and Updated VOC Reactivity Scales".   • Nonhazardous Air Pollutant - Certain solvents are classified by the EPA as being a non-HAPs. These solvents can contain trace amounts of other solvents that are HAPs classified. The information in this application is based on the pure chemical.

  • SARA SARA Solvents listed under the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act. TRI reporting requirements also referred to as SARA 313. A list of SARA chemicals is available on the internet at:

  • Solvent Family Primary chemical description of the solvent. A solvent can be members of more than one solvent family.

  • TLV PPM 2004 Threshold limit value (TLV) in ppm established by ACGIH as of 2004.

  • Vapor Pressure stated in "KPa @ 55°C" is obtained from the American Design Institute of Chemical Engineers' Design Institute for Physical Property Data (DIPPR) 801 Database and extrapolated from measured vapor pressure values.

  • Viscosity

  • VOC Volatile Organic Compounds as defined by Clean Air Act Amendments.
